Last week, Celtic legends Scott Brown and Mikael Lustig returned to Glasgow for a special event at the OVO Hydro. Thousands of Celtic fans turned up to see the pair on stage, joined by a few familiar faces from their time at the club.

Former Celtic manager Gordon Strachan was among the participants, but it was current Celtic gaffer Ange Postecoglou who received the biggest ovation of the night. Despite never crossing paths with Brown at Celtic, Postecoglou paid a heartfelt tribute to the former captain.

One of the highlights of the evening was a humorous anecdote shared by Brown. He regaled the audience with a tale about Kieran Tierney’s reaction to his latest signing for Fleetwood, Jayden Stockley. Tierney, now an Arsenal defender, was less than impressed with the decision, given that Stockley, a former Aberdeen player, had broken his jaw during the invincible treble final.

Brown recounted the story, saying, “I signed a player for Fleetwood – Jayden, who broke KT’s jaw, forgetting what he did. So the Celtic group chat starts lighting up; you can imagine, KT’s wrote back on this group chat and absolutely annihilated me with about 13 messages just battering me back and forward.”

Tierney even sent pictures of the incident, along with an image of him with the trophy on his head. Brown admitted, “At the time, I forgot, but he’s done well for us, so I’ll take that one on the chin!” In retrospect, ‘taking one on the chin’ might not have been the best phrase to conclude the story!

During the invincible treble final, Tierney had to leave Hampden after Stockley led with his elbow and broke his jaw. He spent the rest of the game in the hospital, watching it on TV. Tom Rogic replaced him on the field, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Despite being in considerable pain, Tierney made a mad dash back to Hampden after being given strong painkillers and stitches. He was there to join the Bhoys in lifting the Scottish Cup and celebrating the invincible treble. His passionate celebration, despite his pain, remains a memorable moment for all Celtic fans.
