Kilmarnock manager Angelo Alessio has confirmed there are ongoing talks between the club and Celtic over a deal for Greg Taylor.

The Italian spoke about wanting to keep the defender but is pragmatic enough to know it might not be possible.

Asked about the current state of play, the Killie boss confirmed two things to the press.

  1. Sunderland have indeed had a bid rejected
  2. Talks are ongoing with Celtic.

Taylor has been left-back if interest for quite some time and Neil Lennon looks keen to get a deal over the line for the Scottish international.

The left-back is interested in a move to the Scottish Champions but the biggest stumbling block is Kilmarnock’s asking price.

The Rugby Park club rumoured to be asking for £3m to part with their star defender. With the window due to close on Monday, time is of the essence for both clubs to show their hands.
