YUKI KOBAYASHI had a great debut in Celtic’s match against St Mirren on Wednesday night.

The former Vissel Kobe man slotted in at centre half, playing to the left of Starfelt. It allowed the Swedish defender to move back to his more natural side, and it showed throughout it the match.

Barring the one pass, Starfelt looked much more comfortable than usual.

Kobayashi himself was great. He was good in the air and looked very assured with the ball at his feet. Defensively, he’s very similar to how Starfelt plays the game, looking to stay on his feet rather than dive in.

With a clean sheet and a solid performance on his debut, has he given Ange a new partnership to think about with CCV returns to the squad?

The fact he plays the left side of the pairing with ease certainly helps the player’s case for a regular starting role.
