Under-fire Brendan Rodgers has been accused of “switching off” as Celtic’s season continues to spiral with Kris Boyd claiming the Hoops boss already looks like a man with one foot out the door.
Rodgers’ men slumped to a shock 2-0 defeat to Dundee at Dens Park, their first loss there in 38 years, leaving them five points behind leaders Hearts after just eight league games.
And Sky Sports pundit Boyd didn’t hold back after watching another flat Celtic display.
He hit thr nail on the head, live on Sky Sports, saying; “I mean, that team just replicates the way Brendan Rodgers is right now as well. Look at him — he looks as if he’s just switched off.
“The team is flat. There’s no energy about it. Brendan Rodgers already looks… I mean, he’s started it. The signs are already there.
“All of a sudden, he’s doing interviews with media companies down the road, saying ‘I’m still here, I’ll be available next year because I’m not going to re-sign with Celtic.’
“There’s an opportunity for me. He’s getting away with everything.
“Everybody blames the board for not bringing in players. And you’ve said that yourself. When has Brendan Rodgers got to get criticism?”
Rodgers sat down with BBC – not BBC Scotland – earlier this week for a wide-ranging interview that raised eyebrows among supporters, with many questioning the timing amid the team’s dip in form.
While the Hoops boss admitted the summer transfer window didn’t go as planned, he should be getting far more out of the talent at his disposal.
Celtic supporters voiced their anger before kick-off in Dundee, delaying the game with a protest against the club’s board and they were left furious again after another lacklustre performance.
The pressure is now piling on Rodgers ahead of next weekend’s trip to Tynecastle, where defeat to Hearts could leave Celtic a massive eight points off the pace.
