CELTIC were drawn against the top second seeded team in every pot, we don’t know what the odds on that were happening but it has made for a tough Europa league group.

If Neil Lennon’s men are to get to the knockout stage of the Europa League, they must get the better of Milan, Lille and Sparta Praha.

Not impossible, but being in pot one has certainly not done the bhoys any favours in the end.

Our City rivals got an easier group and are expected to get out of it and into the knockout phase. For Celtic, they must just work hard and hope they can overcome some top sides.

However, the man who usually likes to take a dig at Celtic took 30 seconds off to make a positive remark when it comes to Europa qualification.

“In fact there is no real reason why Rangers and Celtic cannot BOTH go deep into the competition again.

Writing in his SunSport column, Kris Boyd said he thinks there’s no reason why BOTH clubs can’t qualify for the last 32.

“Celtic’s section looks tougher on paper, with Sparta Prague and AC Milan both seasoned European campaigners — and Lille a top side, too.

“But Milan are a pale shadow of their former selves and Neil Lennon’s men have nothing to fear.”

Celtic did defy the odds last year; beating Lazio home and away and doing well against Rennes and Cluj. More of the same and we could get there.

  1. The guy in the blue suit who made the dra kept picking one ball and used it to spin the other balls in the bowl. Not just in one case but I’m every case. This looked dodgy. I said so on twitter at the time but no one else reacted similarly. I suspect that the whole draw was rigged. How can we get a heavier group than Gerrard’s mob who were only in Pot 3.
