KRIS BOYD has praised Neil Lennon for his openness and honesty towards his mental health problems and believes the Hibs boss has saved lives doing so.

Speaking as he opened his charity to raise awareness of mental health in honour of his late brother who took his own life, the Kilmarnock striker was full of admiration for Neil.

“For me Neil has been seen in a totally different light since that,” said Boyd.

“A lot of people would come out and say he was a hothead, but most people didn’t understand what was going through his head.

“When he first openly spoke about it I think it would have saved a lot of people. If someone like that can come out and speak it can only help.

“If a Celtic captain, a Celtic manager can speak about it why can’t others?”

Kris hopes that his new charity will continue to break down the barriers and stigma around mental health and help people who are struggling.

His first charity event is a Valentine’s Ball at Ayr Racecourse on Feb 17th. For more details go to www.thekrisboydcharity.co.uk

We wish the Sky Sports pundit all the best with his charity and hope it helps a lot of people.
