KRIS COMMONS has made the revelation Neil Lennon is set to bring back Leigh Griffiths into the fold and that the player has spoken more to Neil Lennon in the last week than he did in months with Brendan Rodgers.

Commons made the incredible claim on his MailSport blog and didn’t pull any punches with regards to the lack of support Brendan Rodgers was giving Leigh before leaving the club.

It was late last year when Brendan announced the Celtic striker would be taking a leave of absence to sort himself out after worrying signs Leigh was not mentally coping.

There was an outpouring of support for the Celtic striker as he battled his demons. Since then, we’ve had little snippets of Leigh training himself and writing on social media about getting back to his best.

Neil has been back in the post less than a week and according to Commons, his former Celtic gaffer has already been in touch about a return – but only when the time is right!

Commons wrote “It’s my understanding that Leigh Griffiths is close to making his return following some off-field personal difficulties.

“He feels like he’s in a much better place mentally and is looking forward to getting back on the pitch and contributing.

“Neil Lennon certainly won’t rush him back – and nor should he.

“He’ll put an arm round him and give him all the time he needs.

“From what I’m hearing, Lennon has spoken more to Griffiths over the past week than Brendan Rodgers did during the past two months.”

It’s no secret that Kris Commons has never been Brendan Rodgers biggest fan, during his last season at the club the manager exiled the player to the shadows of Celtic Park and even loaned him to Hibernian at one point in the season.
