KRIS COMMONS has raged at the Celtic support for going in on Greg Taylor and his performances for the club.
The left-back was signed from Kilmarnock last summer and has been eased into the spotlight at Celtic Park, overtaking Boli Bolingoli since January.
The defender has had his ups and downs but many feel the current 3-5-2 formation isn’t suited to the defender’s strengths. Commons believes some Celtic fans are punishing Taylor for not being Kieran Tierney and that he can do no right when it comes to some sections of the Celtic support.
“Greg Taylor must feel like he’s being left to drown in the aftermath and that’s regardless of what he actually does on the pitch.” Commons wrote in his column as cited by RecordSport.
“It’s starting to feel like he can’t do right for doing wrong. Hardly a week goes past now without some Celtic fans getting on his case and slaughtering his performances.
“They view him as an easy target. They criticise him purely because of the fact he’s not Kieran Tierney. Sorry, but that’s a cheap shot and an easy stick to beat him with.”
After the Taylor rant, he turned his attention to Moi Elyounoussi, saying the player hasn’t done enough in the seven games so far.
“If they’re looking to have a go at someone, then you’d have to say the performances of Mohamed Elyounoussi would warrant greater scrutiny.
“The Norwegian winger is yet to score in seven league appearances so far this season.”
“Moi is another casualty of the 3-5-2 system BUT it has to be said the player has not been given as much time on the pitch as others.”
He didn’t even get off the bench against St Mirren and got seven minutes against Livingston, in-fact he hasn’t had a full 90-minutes this term, but Kris Commons feels comfortable attacking the Celtic midfielder even if he does acknowledge Moi’s lack of game time. Imagine what Kris would have to say about himself back in the day when he took whole seasons off.
