KRISTOFFER AJER had to come off injured in the early going against AIK last Thursday when Celtic booked their place in the Europa League group stage with a thumping victory over AIK.

Unfortunately the Norweigan wasn’t fit enough for the trip to Ibrox and had to watch from the sidelines as his teammates put the pretenders to the throne in their place.

With the International break upon us it’s another source of frustration for Ajer as he is forced to sit out playing for his country. He has become a pivotal player of the senior squad and would have been playing had he been fit.

The big question from a Celtic point of view is when will Kristoffer be fit to play and according to the man himself he will be back sooner than expected.

Asked how long the injury would keep him out, the defender told SunSport: “I’ve been told I have to rest for two weeks.”

By our reckoning that probably leaves him out of contention for Celtic’s trip to Hamilton but he could be back in the following Thursday for Celtic’s game against Rennes in France.

With Celtic adding depth to the defence this summer the player will certainly not be rushed back before he’s ready but the signs are good he won’t be out too long.
