The Kristoffer Ajer Transfer speculation has taken another twist as former IK director confirms his old club hold a significant sell-on clause for the defender.

Celtic signed Ajer from Norway back under Ronny Deila and he’s risen through the reserves to become a first team star.

There has been whispers that he wants to leave the club this summer with his old agent saying back in March, Ajer wouldn’t be signing a new Celtic deal.

However, Celtic will want top dollar for their player if he is to go and with a sell-on clause involved it might be that the club push the fee up even more.

Former IK Start director Ogrey Brandsdal told RecodSport: “When we sold him to Celtic, we were also in a very tight financial position and that made the negotiations very pressurised.

“But from the very first moment we saw Kristoffer, we knew he would be playing in the top leagues one day.

“So although we needed the money urgently, we sacrificed some of it so we could add the sell-on clause. We took a long-term view of his career.

“Celtic are known to develop and sell players. They will want a good return on him and won’t allow him to see out his contract.”

Ajer has made great strides at Celtic but many supporters feel he could stand to stay at the club at least another season to continue to develop his game.

Kristoffer has youth on his side and can afford to wait another season for a big money move.

Celtic know all about sell-on fees because they regularly attach them to deals when they sell on their player.

Ajer will likely have a Celtic clause attached when he does move on.
