There has been so much speculation surrounding the future of our centre-back Kristoffer Ajer over the past couple of months.

Since the Norwegian’s agent went public about Ajer not wanting to sign a new deal — his name has popped up all over the place with regards to a move elsewhere.

Kristoffer has been heavily linked with a move to Leicester to rejoin his former manager Brendan Rodgers. There’s been heavy speculation Rodgers wants the player to head up his defence next season.

However, Leicestershire live are emphatically refuting this is the case. The local Leicester media outlet appear to have the ear of somebody at the club.

They write: Leicester City have no interest in Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer and will not be pursuing a move for the centre-back this summer, LeicestershireLive understands.

City have consistently been linked with a host of Celtic stars since manager Brendan Rodgers made the move from Parkhead to the King Power Stadium last February. However, despite speculation, Norwegian international Ajer is not among City’s targets.

Whether this as a u-turn by Leicester or if they were getting fed up with Ajer’s name coming up — we’re not sure.

His agent seems keen to get Kris a move but if this report is to be believed — it won’t be to Leicester.

Celtic would have to replace Ajer if he did go this summer. He has struck up a good pairing with Christopher Jullien and if Neil Lennon wants to play a back three, we will need reinforcements.
