KYOGO Furuhashi surprised us all on Thursday evening when he went straight back into the Starting XI vs Bayer Leverkusen. The player was unlucky not to score – had it not been for the quick reflexes of the Bayer goalkeeper, the Japanese star would have hit the back of the net.

The Celtic striker wasn’t due back until after the international break, Ange Postecoglou said less than ten days ago it would have been a massive push for Kyogo to see action before then.

As it happens, the forward has made it back in plenty of time and will most certainly fave Aberdeen on Sunday at Pittodrie.

It’s great news for Celtic but also great news if you’re a Japanese football fan – Kyogo has now been added to the Japan squad for their international games this month and will fly out to meet up with the squad after Sunday. He was initially left out of the side, before Ange mentioned on Wednesday that he had been selected – we were unsure of Kyogo’s status because there was nothing confirmed from Japan’s end. We now have the press release in question.

Celtic fans were hoping Kyogo would stay behind and ensure the player doesn’t succumb to another injury playing for his country, but given he’s back two games earlier than scheduled for Celtic – we can’t complain too much.

Let’s hope he can help us to a much needed victory against Aberdeen.

  1. Only if the want to go. And Kyogo can see his mates, family, country. And play some football. The decision is his. And hopefully comes back injury free. Like all players normally do.
