KYOGO FURUHASHI was relatively unknown when he arrived at Celtic last summer. However, he didn’t take long to ensure the whole of Scotland knew his name.

Before Celtic, the striker had never ventured outside of Japan, never mind playing football in another continent. But, the name Celtic wasn’t lost on him.

Kyogo has revealed that before leaving Vissel Kobe for Celtic, he had a chat with Barcelona icon Andres Iniesta about the club.

Iniesta had multiple experiences at Parkhead, so asking him about the club was natural.

As quoted by the Tokyo Weekender, Kyogo detailed his conversation with the player who was part of arguably Barcelona’s greatest ever side, saying;

“It’s a unique club with special fans. Getting those supporters off their feet when you hit the net; there’s no feeling like it. Before flying to Glasgow, Andrés (Iniesta) told me about the atmosphere when he played against Celtic for Barcelona.

“He said it was intimidating and I can see why, as it can get very loud. My old clubs, FC Gifu and Vissel Kobe were great, but this is on another level. It’s hard to put into words what it means to be here.”

Celtic Park’s atmosphere is special; not many clubs offer something quite like it.

Often, when a player is asked about the best atmosphere they have experienced in their career, they don’t hesitate and claim that Celtic fans are the best; the noise they make to back their team acts like the twelfth man. Some even describe that the crowd suck the ball into the net.

Celtic fans are looking forward to showcasing this atmosphere next season, when Celtic compete in Europe’s elite league, welcoming many top-class teams to Paradise.
