Kyogo Furuhashi once again produced some magic in the final of the League Cup as he helped his side go on to win the trophy.
During last season’s final against Hibs, the Japanese striker struck twice after the Hoops went behind to help Celtic win their first piece of silverware under Ange Postecoglou.
Both goals were absolutely terrific and he once again repeated the trick in the final as his two goals won the game against Rangers.
Those two goals took the 28-year-olds tally to 24 goals for the season as he remains well on course to hit 30 by the end of the campaign [Transfermarkt].
There was some kind of myth developing that Kyogo didn’t turn up in games against Rangers but he has now scored three goals in his last two appearances against the Ibrox club. It was a narrative spun by detractors of the club.
The Japanese striker has been a revelation since joining the club and although many were frustrated that he never scored during the Champions League campaign, his post World Cup form has been terrific. It’s likely that Japan boss Hajime Moriyasu will reconsider the striker as he just can’t ignore him now.
There’s a lot of pressure playing at Celtic, but Kyogo has proved that he can step-up on the big occasions domestically when called upon. He also became the first Celtic player to score back-to-back braces in Scottish League Cup finals since Billy McPhail did in the 1950s.
And he can dance…👍🏼😂
