Celtic’s summer transfer activity is beginning to gather pace, with a Chelsea prospect in Scotland as the Hoops look to address their lack of depth at left-back.
Haissem Hassan was announced as a Celtic player on Wednesday night, becoming the club’s third new arrival of the window.
Hassan adds another option to the attacking line alongside Camilo Duran and Kasper Hogh, but the left-back position remains an obvious area requiring attention.
Kieran Tierney has put in two solid shifts in Celtic’s opening Premiership matches and looks energised for the new campaign.
The issue is what sits behind him.
Tierney remains the only senior left-back at the club and, given the demands of the season ahead, Celtic cannot expect him to play every minute. They need someone capable of stepping in, whether that means seeing out games or starting when the fixtures begin to pile up.
Chelsea’s Landon Emenalo could be that player.
Sky Sports have reported that the 18-year-old is one of a number of potential targets being considered by Celtic.
Emenalo travelled to Scotland on Wednesday to hold talks over a possible loan move and was shown around Celtic Park and the club’s training base.

An image has since circulated online which appears to show the youngster at Lennoxtown as discussions continue.
There has been no official announcement from Celtic and nothing is signed yet, but the visit suggests this is considerably further along than simply having a name on a list of targets.
Born in the United States, Emenalo represents England at youth level and has been capped at U18 level.
He initially came through Chelsea’s youth system before joining Monaco’s academy and subsequently returning to the London club.
The defender also got 63 minutes for Chelsea’s senior side during their pre-season friendly victory over Western Sydney on July 28.
Emenalo is highly regarded, but at 18 the attraction of Celtic would be obvious. A loan move would give him the chance to step into a competitive first-team environment rather than remain on the fringes at Chelsea.
There could be another arrival following closely behind.
German midfielder Mika Baur has been cleared to travel to Glasgow after Celtic reached a deal with Paderborn worth up to £6.8 million after performance-related add-ons.
Negotiations have taken time, but the 22-year-old now looks set to strengthen Martin O’Neill’s midfield options.
After a window which needed to move through the gears, Celtic suddenly have one signing through the door and another two potential additions taking significant steps towards joining him.
