It was a blow to Celtic fans yesterday when Neil Lennon delivered the news Boli Bolingoli did NOT travel to Rome with the rest of the squad ahead of the crunch Europa Celtic tie.

The defender had a problem with his hamstring which led to the Belgian being subbed at half time against Hibernian in the semi-final of the League Cup.

The Celtic boss was hopeful of having Boli for the game in Italy but he was ruled out leaving the Celtic manager with a selection headache.

While it is a blow – it really shows how far Boli has come in a Celtic jersey since the summer. There was a time when many Celtic supporters were on his back and wanted him out of the team after a few mistakes. Since bedding into the side, Boli has become a big part of the way Neil Lennon’s team likes to play. To this point, the defender has limited Greg Taylor’s appearances in a Celtic jersey to just one. However, could this change in Italy?
