The deal quietly went through yesterday but getting Boli Bolingoli off the books for this season now leaves the club with the opportunity to bring in a left-sided player – preferably a wing-back.

Boli sealed his own fate at the start of the season when he blatantly disregarded lockdown restrictions and caused two of Celtic’s games to be postponed in August. It has left the club playing catch up for the time being but they’ll at least get the chance to get one game back this week when they travel to Paisley to play St Mirren.

The Celtic team did very well on Saturday against Ross County but the glaring out of place selection was James Forrest playing as a left wingback. It’s not Forrest’s natural position at all and he’d be better served at the other side of the field.

The problem for Neil Lennon is he wants to play Forrest in most games but his 3-5-2 formation doesn’t really suit the player so he has wedged him in. It’s imperative the club go and get someone for the left hand side who can play the current system.
