Emilio Izaguirre has confirmed he is in talks with Celtic over a potential return to the club on Radio America.

The Honduran has been without a club since leaving Saudi Arabia a few months back for personal reasons.

It was believed the former Celtic star was heading for a move to the MLS but the player and the club have had talks about bringing the defender back into the fold to cover Kieran Tierney.

Speaking on Radio America he said:

“I am arranging with Celtic to return. I do not plan to stay in Central America right now.”

Celtic have not really had a back up in the left back position since Izzy left. Calvin Miller has been played out of position to cover for Tierney and Jonny Hayes looks like he’s there to fill that role if need be.

It would be a welcome move by the club for most fans who think Izaguirre cant still offer something to the club.

Many felt he left too soon.

  1. Nooooooo ooooo! He’s past it,. Please no more over hit crosses and him missing at the back post. What a waste of money. Surely use someone from the development squad instead. Massive weak link in an already weak defence.
