Many Celtic fans believed Jota would be signed up before Cameron Carter-Vickers, but the American international beat the Portuguese winger to the punch on Friday when Celtic announced a permanent deal from Spurs.

Supporters were delighted to see Celtic tie up the defender but have now firmly turned their attention to Jota.

There has been reports for weeks the SPFL title winner is close to signing for Celtic with the club and Benfica happy to do a deal. It’s yet to materialise but people who regularly get the scoops from inside Celtic Park have claimed there’s no need for panic.

Of course, you take everything with a pinch of salt until things are signed on the dotted line. We all got burned last season when the noises came out of Celtic were pushing Eddie Howe’s appointment only for it to fall apart.

Glasgow Times report a news outlet in Portugal are saying there’s a few personal terms from Jota and his representatives still to iron out before he becomes a full time Celtic Player.

This seems very speculative and guess work rather than anything substantial.

The transfer window opened on Friday and the bhoys are due back to Lennoxtown in two weeks time. Could we see some movement before then? You’d like to think so.
