While there is a real feel-good factor around Celtic Football Club tonight after a convincing return to action by the Hoops at the expense of Shaun Maloney’s Hibs, the latest injury update on Kyogo Furuhashi is not good reading.

Kyogo will have been delighted with the performance of his fellow countrymen tonight in Glasgow with Daizen Maeda opening his Celtic goal account after only three minutes in a Hoops jersey. Reo Hatate also played like he’d been a fan favourite for years at Celtic.

No doubt Kyogo would have built up the lads before tonight’s clash and filled them in on what to expect from a sold-out Celtic Park. We did think that the striker was close to a return but Ange Postecoglou has poured cold water on that idea tonight as reported in Record Sport.

Ange: “It’s fair to say he hasn’t recovered from the injury. We’re still getting advice on it. He’s not likely to feature for the next couple of weeks at least, it could be longer. In terms of definite timeframes, we’ll get more info during the week.”

The Australian manager has worked miracles up this point with a depleted squad plagued by injuries for much of the first half of the season. It was hoped that bulking up the squad in January with give the Hoops a fighting chance for more silverware but they really need some luck on the injury front.

  1. He’ll sit it out till the Glasgow Derby.

Ange knows if they play him he’ll be picked for the Japan national side.

He’ll be as fit as a butchers dog come the 2nd Feb and rarin’ to go.

    Mark my words.
