DAIZEN MAEDA and Japan exited the World Cup earlier this week after Croatia got the win on penalties in the end. It was Celtic vs Celt when Daizen came up against Josip Juranovic and they both did their countries proud.

In the end, Croatia did enough to get through to the quarter final of the World Cup where they’ll take on Brazil for a place in the semi-final.

After the match, the two Celtic players emotionally embraced after the game. Celtic fans were delighted to see the team spirit in both of their bhoys in Qatar despite playing the high stakes international game.

Daizen Maeda was visibly heartbroken after scoring a goal against Croatia and it not being enough in the end to grab the win.

Despite the heartache, Daizen summed up his character and the Celtic squad mentality on the whole by posting good luck to his friend and teammate Juranovic ahead of the Brazil game with the message ‘See You in Glasgow’.

Maeda is enjoying some time out after playing at the World Cup and won’t join up with Celtic until later this month. Josip will be even later back with his participation in the World Cup going on.
