Newest January recruit Matt O’Riley could be set for an early introduction to life as a Celtic player, as Ange Postecoglou assesses his midfield options ahead of the Hoops trip to Tynecastle on Wednesday night.

The midfielder joined the club on a four and a half year deal during the week, signing from Sky Bet League One side MK Dons, after impressing for his former side in the year spent with them.

Postecoglou might have been hoping to introduce the 21-year old a bit slower, given the depth within his midfield due to the January recruits.

However, the Celtic boss will now be without Tom Rogic and Callum McGregor, with Yosuke Ideguchi also a doubt after his injury knock on Saturday evening.

This could spell a change of plans for the 56-year old and bring forward the introduction of O’Riley on Wednesday evening for a crucial Scottish Premiership fixture against Hearts in the capital.

Thankfully, O’Riley should be match fit, having played throughout this season, which will hopefully mean he is ready to go right from the off at Tynecastle.

It will be some introduction to life as a Celtic player. But, we know that modern-day Celtic heroes have got off to an amazing start within the same stadium, and supporters will be hoping the attacking midfielder can have a similar impact next week.
