According to Mexican Football reporter Juan Carlos Ibarrarán ‘Celtic Target’ Edson Alvarez will NOT make a move to Celtic in the January window after reports in Mexico this week suggested the bhoys were in pole position to sign the defender.
However, cold water has been poured on that idea.
Celtic are on the lookout for at least one centre-back in the January window. The club know provisions have to be made in order to soften the blow of losing Benkovic in the summer and as it looks increasingly unlikely Boyata will sign a new deal, at least one defender has to come in next month.
Alvarez is the type of player Celtic should be trying to sign but players like the 21-year-old won’t come cheap.
