Celtic are set to honour the 60th anniversary of the Lisbon Lions with a special crest next season, according to a new leak from Footy Headlines.
The club’s iconic European Cup triumph in 1967 remains one of the most celebrated moments in Celtic’s history, and the class of ’67 will once again be commemorated when the Hoops mark six decades since that famous night in Portugal.
Footy Headlines revealed the design on their site, describing it as “an ornate and classic design, fitting for such a momentous occasion.” In a nod to the final, the crest is surrounded by the words “60° ANIVERSÁRIO” – Portuguese for “60th Anniversary.”
What remains unclear is how the badge will be used. It could feature on official matchday kits, as it did during the 2017/18 season when Celtic unveiled a gold-edged crest on their home shirt to mark the 50th anniversary of Lisbon. Alternatively, it may be reserved for special edition merchandise.
The Lisbon Lions – Jock Stein’s side who became the first British team to win the European Cup – hold a unique place in football history, and Celtic’s plans for the 60th anniversary are bound to attract attention.
Supporters will be left to speculate whether a commemorative kit will be released or if the badge will be used across club branding for the 2026/27 season. Either way, the Lisbon Lions’ legend will once again be at the forefront of Celtic’s identity as the anniversary approaches.
