Former Celtic player turned pundit Frank McAvennie has weighed into the departure of Celtic’s former Chief Exec after just 72 days in charge.

The club was vague on the reason why McKay left and it’s almost certain Dom has signed a non-disclosure agreement so we won’t be hearing much from the two other than the statement put forth on the day of his exit.

It’s left fans and pundits speculating on what really went on and why exactly a man who was so excited about changing the set-up at Celtic left his post shortly after taking it on.

McAvennie is dealing like the rest of us in hearsay and rumours, but the former Celt did say he had heard McKay had been off with stress in the past and it could have been a reason for him departing the role.

“There are a lot of rumours flying around,” McAvennie told Football Insider

“We need to hear exactly what happened. What I do know is that when he was head of the Rugby he took time off because he was stressed.

“That’s not a good match if you want to work for a team like Celtic. I’m just speculating, maybe he didn’t realise the size of the job.

“I honestly don’t know but Postecoglou is on his own now, some people are saying they fell out.

“I don’t know about that. He’s just walked away, it just leaves a rotten taste in the mouth.

“They have to come out and say what happened. If he didn’t get on with Dermot Desmond then fine. There is only one winner there. Just say that.”

Celtic put his exit down to personal reasons but what Celts Are Here can categorically confirm is that there was no issue with Dom or his family that would have stopped him from doing the job. People were worried the former Rugby man took a step back out for health reasons but that wasn’t the case.

We will likely hear the truth come out further down the line.

  1. Pretty poor to repeat unsubstantiated gossip about Mackay from McAvennie of all people-may as well ask the postie or supermarket check out operator for their opinion and repeat it here
