CLAUDE PUEL has given his verdict on Filip Benkovic and if the club will use the January window clause to bring him back early from his Celtic loan and it’s great news for Celtic fans!

The Foxes boss spoke in his pre-match press conference on Friday about the need for the £13million defender to continue to get games at Celtic and improve with a view to playing in the Premier League next season.

There were some Celtic fans who were anxious Leicester may recall their star early because the Croatian has been doing so well for the bhoys.

However, barring injuries, Puel believes Filip is best placed at Celtic until the end of the season.

“If there are no problems with injuries I’d like my players on loan to continue progressing and developing and to find their confidence and consistency,” he told Sunsport

“For me, it’s the right way for them and for us. I want players who are ready to play next season.

“I will be happier when he comes back to us after the normal time with Celtic.

“Then we will have a player who is ready to play for us next season. I think that’s important and it’s a good way to do it.

“If some players have to come back early in January it will only be because we have some injury problems or other such things.”

Benkovic has a run of eleven games with Celtic before even hitting the January window. The loan star could help make a big difference in the coming games.

However, we might not see him start today against Hamilton with the Celtic manager reluctant to field the defender on an artificial surface.

The defender didn’t start at Livingston for the same reason and only came on because Ajer had a nasty face injury.
