Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths was asked about the introduction of Joey Barton into Scottish football and he raised a smile.

“You know, Joey Barton has obviously got a mouth on him but Broony being Broony, I’m sure he’ll just take it in his stride.”

Since signing for Sevco the player has gone about his business in a less than dignified way. Playing to the galleries, desperately trying to fit in with his new surroundings.

Leigh looks forward to Brown and Barton’s tussles next season and isn’t sure why the Englishman feels the need to crow so much, given him and Brown’s CVs just don’t compare.

“I’m sure it will be an interesting battle when they face each other at Celtic Park. How many England caps has Joey got? One?” said Leigh.

“Broony has 50 for Scotland, he’s the captain of his national team, won titles and competed in the Champions League.”

  1. Why is Griffiths or any other member of the Celtic squad, I would suggest any employee of Celtic allowed to have a twitter account? Forget freedom of speech, twitter is the home of 12 year old mean girls any adult who participates in this needs their head looked. These guys are professional footballers, why are they lowering themselves to have a twitter ‘spat’ with the likes of Joey Barton who is clearly a thick moron. If they are so desperate to write why not follow Armstrong and Ajer and study something. Improve your mind, read a book don’t tweet responses to Barton’s chilish nonsense. This will end with players being charged with bringing the game into disrepute. if any Celtic player is dragged into this and gets a ban from playing because of it, they should be immediately sacked. Someone get them told.
