Today, interim manager John Kennedy held a press conference ahead of Sunday’s Glasgow Derby during which he confirmed the club will be looking to offer Leigh Griffiths a new deal.
Kennedy said there is “nothing decided fully yet so I think Leigh will have discussions with guys at the club probably in the coming week or so”.
John Kennedy then proceeded to praise Leigh, saying he has been “good as gold” and has “applied himself the way we want”.

Leigh Griffiths has had many memorable moments at Celtic. 2015/16 Griffiths was unstoppable, with 31 goals in the league which won the talisman PFA Player of the Year, Scottish Football Writers Player of the Year and Scottish Premiership Player of the Year.
Leigh also won two Player of the Month awards. The Hoops striker was the top goal scorer and was pivotal to Celtic’s fifth successive league title in a row.
The frontman has been linked with moves away from Celtic this summer after another disappointing season. There doesn’t seem to be a future at Celtic for Leigh anymore and his best option may be to move on. The club will look to sign a new striker in the summer with Edouard undoubtedly leaving and Ajeti not looking good enough yet.
