Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths is reportedly being lined up as a possible target for English League One side Sunderland.

As reported by Sun Sport, the Black Cats are ‘exploring’ the possibility of bringing the 30-year old frontman in on loan going into next season.

After losing striker Charlie Wyke, who was at one stage heavily linked with a move to Glasgow with Celtic, to Wigan – Sunderland boss Lee Johnstone is looking to add options to his attacking frontline.

Griffiths recently signed a new one-year extension with the club, but in the last few weeks, he was sent home from the Hoops Welsh training base after being investigated by the Police.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou admitted that since sending the striker home, the whole situation hadn’t come into his thoughts, so at this stage, it is unknown what his future holds at the club.

With Sunderland’s links to Griffiths, though, it looks like there is a real possibility we could see him depart the club this summer.

  1. no way we should sell Griff,he is still the best striker we have at the moment.Ajeti was useless last season and will be useless this season.

  2. If management had really believed in his ability to score goals frequently then he would not be the subject of transfer out talk. He is a great little player and, with the exception of Edaurdo – perhaps – so much better than the other failures whom our stupid management signed. pf
