LEIGH GRIFFITHS has broke his silence on the perceived stamp which wanted to see the usual suspects in the media see him banned. It was Celtic vs Hamilton and a coming together between the striker and Hamilton player Sam Woods resulted in the player’s foot coming down on Woods.

The TV footage clearly shows Leigh trying to manoeuvre enough not to hurt the player who had grabbed his foot and makes sure most of his weight is on the other leg when his foot comes down.

That footage was discussed at length on a variety of platforms, when in truth, there was nothing in it at all. The SFA agreed and didn’t charge the player which sparked more debate. It’s really telling, how badly some want to bring the hammer down on Celtic, considering they’re flying right now.

On media duties for Celtic ahead of the Clyde game on Sunday in the Scottish Cup, the Celtic striker was asked for his perspective.

“It was a coming-together. I never meant to stamp on him at all.” Griffiths told CelticTV.

“As I was on my way down I caught my foot and there was no other place I could plant it.

“But it was never going to be intentional, I’m not that type of player.”
