NEIL LENNON has delivered a small update on his striker Leigh Griffiths as the bhoys get set to return to Lennoxtown.

Leigh was left out of the French pre-season tie because he returned to Training in June out of shape and lacking fitness.

After the PSG defeat on Tuesday night, the Celtic manager was asked if he would consider sending Leigh out on loan this season to help him get back up to speed. Neil Lennon was very clear this wasn’t an option but also added the player is making progress.

“I’m not even considering that at the minute. He’s been coming on but we’ll assess him when we get back.” Lennon told SunSport.

Celtic are set for a double header of closed door games this weekend to help the players continue their road to match sharpness. A friendly against Motherwell and a team from Ireland will give the bhoys more game time ahead of the new season.

There was hope Celtic could have hosted a test event for spectators this weekend but that hasn’t been permitted.
