Neil Lennon has confirmed there has been ‘interest from Germany’ for one of the Celtic youth stars who has flown under the radar over the past few years. The Irishman has issued a hands off warning to any suitors for Liam Morrison after the manager handed Liam his top flight debut against Pinkafield last week.

Reports claim Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have been trying to tempt the young centre half to Germany this summer. However, asked if there was a possibility of Liam making the move, Lennon replied”

“That’s not going to happen.” he told SunSport.

“There is interest from Germany but Liam’s our player and we want to develop him.

“We’re not accepting any, or open to any, offers for him. “I think we’re in negotiations over a new contract.

“It’s too early to say with him but he’s doing really well. He played well last Wednesday night.

“We’re very pleased with his progress.”

The Celtic gaffer looks like he’s ready to give youth a chance this time around with his first stint at Celtic Park seeing many of the youth players heading out on-loan. There was a time during Neil Lennon’s run as manager where if you were sent on loan that was pretty much it for your Celtic career.

Callum McGregor was sent out to Notts County under the Irishman but would rise to prominence with Ronny Deila and even more so with Brendan Rodgers who turned the midfielder into a star.

It would be hard to ignore the conveyer belt at Lennoxtown at the minute. Guys like Morrison, Dembele, Oko-Flex, Johnston and Henderson all have the potential to make the first team.

This will be what Celtic fans will be hoping to see over the next few years.
