NEIL LENNON was discussing his career with Darrel Currie for a Ladbrokes Q&A and of course, the infamous touchline incident with Ally McCoist came up in conversation.

For anyone not familiar with what happened – Neil Lennon’s Celtic beat Old Rangers at Celtic Park to advance to the next round of the Scottish Cup thanks to a goal from unlikely hero Mark Wilson.

After the game, the manager and then assistant manager of Rangers McCoist shook hands before McCoist sleekitly whispered something into Neil Lennon’s ear with the Irishman taking exception.

The two had to be pulled apart on the touchline.

Speaking about the incident six years on – the Hibs boss doesn’t see what all the fuss is about and revealed what he said to McCoist.

“Just wait a minute…that’s all I said!

“I only got that far and there was a bit of handbags after it.

“That’s the most sort of controversial [incident], the one every talks about.

“It’s five or six years down the line and people still want to talk about it.

“It was just too very highly motivated people going after each other – it happens”

That night Rangers had a total of three red cards to their name. Acting like bullies, unable to keep up with Celtic and resorting to the sort of stuff you expect from an Ibrox side.

Soon after the Ibrox club went into administration and then liquidation. A new club was formed and allowed into the third division of Scottish football due to special dispensation.

Maybe McCoist was asking for a tap? Whatever it was, Neil isn’t telling.
