Every time I listen to Ronny Deila talk about his vision for the club I become more and more impressed. The Norwegian speaks not only of visible improvements on the park, improvements which we seen against Dundee Utd last weekend but improvements behind the scenes at the club.
Ronny knows the importance of bringing in a few more players before the transfer deadline. In the short term it’s evident that we need at least another striker in who can find his way to goal. In the long term, however Ronny speaks of improving Lennoxtown to make sure his players have the best chance to succeed going forward.
The Celtic manager would like to see Celtic get a new and improved indoor pitch for during the winter so the training of his team doesn’t suffer during the cold twilight months.
“The most important thing is to get better artificial grass at Lennoxtown with a dome over it” he said.
“I think getting a dome is important because it’s harsh weather at Lennoxtown in the winter, and the pitches are not so good”
“The possibility of going inside and having quality training is maybe more important than a new player. That’s what I’m looking for”
This is great forward thinking from a young manager who is still feeling his way into the game in many ways. Until then he’s still looking to bring some players in and spoke about the possibility of getting a much needed target man.
Celtic have been looking at Stefan Scepovic who plays for Spanish side Sporting Gijon as someone who could fill that gap. Ronny confirmed his interest in the big striker.
“We are looking for a bigger striker, a target man, and Scepovic is one of the options.”
Celtic are looking to get him in for around £2million but Gijon seem to be holding out for more.
