We are entering or have entered a new era in women’s football. During the World Cup this year, perceptions were smashed as well as viewing figures. The competition captured the imagination like never before – breaking TV records across the globe.
With growing interest comes more sponsorship and ultimately more opportunity for more women to play full time football. This looks to be a goal of Celtic over the next few years as they look to put focus onto the ghirls.
Plans are afoot at Barrowfield to create a new training complex which will likely become the new home of the Girls football team who currently play their football at K-Park in East Kilbride.
On Sunday, the Celtic Ladies were in scintillating form and managed to beat Champions League quarterfinalists Glasgow City for the first time since 2016. A result which will be symbolic for a lot of the Celtic players.
They have got that monkey off their back and will have renewed optimism for next season.
As the club do more to shine a light on the women’s team we will do our best to keep you up to date with the latest goings-on. We know Celtic fans appetite for all things green and white is huge and if Celtic can build a team to take on Glasgow City and Hibernian on a consistent basis we could see the beginning of a top Celtic side.
