LEWIS FERGUSON has tried to give his reasons for why he decided to try and hurt Tom Rogic during the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden in April.

Ferguson lunged at the Australian midfielder who was lucky to walk away unscathed from the tackle. Ferguson was sent off as a result and as he walked off the pitch, he showed no remorse as the TV cameras panned to his face.

It was a shocker of a tackle and one that just did not need to be made. Speaking to SunSport, he tries to pass it off as frustration and something he has learned from but it seems like he should have already known not to try and intentionally hurt a fellow professional – even when things aren’t going your way.

“These moments have made me a stronger player and a better person,” Ferguson told SunSport.

“It’s something that we can all learn from and become better players.

“It was just frustration from myself. I was desperate. You know how it is in such a high profile game and I felt as if the game was getting away from us and I was trying to make something happen.”

Aberdeen used heavy-handed tactics to try and bully Celtic out the game but all that it got them was two red cards and a manager sent to the stands.

Celtic take on Hearts in the final of the Scottish Cup at the end of May with a potential treble treble to land.

Before that, a trip to Pittodrie where Celtic can wrap up the title.

  1. Funny, he’s learned from it!!! Against the rankers, he was posted missing staying out of the way of his buddies. This was a direct result of family pressure, not learning from the tackle on Rojic. This guy is a proper little snottrag, walking off, knowing the camers were on him, gob after gob, of spit, left his mouth like the “corner boy” he really is.
