Former Celtic academy star, Liam Morrison has suffered an injury setback just after he made the step forward to Bayern Munich’s reserve side.

The 19-year old former Celtic academy star made the switch to Germany in July 2019 as a sixteen year old with a lot of potential.

He first played in Bayern’s U17 side but has been slowly progressing through the ranks at the German champions.

Morrison was promoted to Bayern Munich II this summer with many players having previously then moved up to the first team having impressed.

The side is managed by former Argentina internationalist Martin Demichelis who will be the right kind of coach for Morrison as he to was a centre back.

The young defender recently suffered an injury setback after he was taken off during Bayern II’s match with SpVgg Ansbach and is likely to need to sit out for a while which is a huge blow for the youngster.

“Liam Morrison suffered a ligament injury when his knee got stuck in the pitch after a tackle in the 60th minute of his last game,” stated Bayern Munich.

“As a result of this, Liam will be missing for several weeks.”

Hopefully Liam makes a return to action as soon as possible and has a speedy recovery.

Many Hoops fans will hope that as times goes on, the club don’t lose as many talents as they have in the past. Morrison has progressed well so far at Bayern and who knows what could have happened had he stayed at Celtic.
