Ange has been speaking for weeks about having a full squad of players to choose from mostly. He’s made a point of letting supporters know if anyone is out of action.

One man who has fallen off the radar at Celtic in recent times is Liam Scales. The defender doesn’t appear to be injured because you’d imagine Ange would’ve brought it up at one of his press conferences.

The Irishman has not been in the matchday squad in the league since February, before that he was an unused sub.

The left-back has had two 90 minutes in the Scottish Cup this season. One 90 minutes in the Europa League group stage and a full 90 against Bodo/Glimt away from home when the bhoys were sent crashing out of the Conference League.

We’ve not heard from the defender in quite some time. Given we don’t have a lot of cover at left-back, you would assume if Ange thought the big man was capable – he’d be a viable option from the bench.

Liam was signed in the summer and had to wait for his opportunity in the team. He’s scored a couple of crackers but has looked a bit out of his depth in Ange’s system. Has the Australian made his mind up on Liam or is the manager going to give him a full pre-season before determining the former Irish league defender’s future? At the age of 23, he can’t really be considered in the ‘prospect’ bracket.

  1. Possibly not fair to single him out as he was far from the only culprit on the night, but anyone who saw his performance in Norway v Bodo Glimt will not see it as a mystery.
