LIAM SCALES has become a forgotten man at Celtic. Since his arrival in Glasgow, he’s failed to make an impact in Celtic colours. In recent months, the Irishman has found himself snubbed by Ange Postecoglou. in fact, the left-back has been unable to make a squad since the away leg of Celtic’s Conference League match against Bodo/Glimt.
Fans have begun to question the signing, wondering if he’ll be moved on in the summer. However, Ange has stated that the player is training well but can’t get onto the bench as it’ll unbalance the squad.
Quoted by The Sun, the Celtic manager said;
“Liam is fine, he’s training well. But sometimes in terms of team balance, he hasn’t made the bench. But he’s available and training well.
“There are still a few areas we need to look at. We’re still rebuilding the squad and I want us to be stronger next year in terms of quality in the squad.
“We’re in a better place than we were 12 months ago but we still have to strengthen and that’s what we’ll do.”
Celtic will likely explore the market for a left-back in the summer. It’ll be interesting to see if the new player will come into the club to replace Greg Taylor or provide competition and backup.
Greg Taylor has made a lot of improvement this season, but it’s clear that he’s not the quality required in Europe.
