The CELTIC PARK atmosphere was driven by a sense of injustice in the second half against Motherwell when the Steelmen showed their true colours when they scored a goal which was a complete affront to sportsmanship.

With Celtic kicking the ball out of play for an injured Ryan Christie to receive treatment the bhoys were expecting the ball to come back their way when Motherwell eventually took the throw-in. While Celtic waited for the ball to come back, Motherwell suddenly advanced and chose to catch Celtic off guard who were waiting for the away side to do the right thing. Instead ‘Well advanced and took a shot at goal which Scott Bain parried before the rebound was smashed into the net.

The Celtic fans, players and management were riled by the cheap and unsporting way Motherwell went about getting their goal. After that, the Celtic Park atmosphere became very hostile with the fans rightfully making their feelings known.

The cheap goal brought Motherwell into a game they were never in. They pressed after the goal and put Celtic under the cosh at times.

It wasn’t until the 87th minute when Celtic managed to get a free kick just outside the box before the bhoys would finally put the game to bed and what a goal to make it happen!

Edouard hit the underside of the bar before the ball crossed the line giving Celtic a 3-1 lead. Celtic Park roared with the sense of injustice still fresh in the mind, as you can hear below the Celtic TV commentary team which included Tom Boyd were loving it and even the stadium announcer got in on the act.

If you watch this whole video below you will hear the announcer take a dig at Motherwell by announcing the Frenchman’s second of the day by stating ‘Now, THAT’S a goal!’.

Two minutes later Celtic would make it 4-1 with a clinical finish from Oli Burke who came on as a late sub. Justice was done and an eight-point lead intact after another round of SPFL fixtures.

  1. Bungling nancy Clancy, the ref who see’s everything, should have stopped play and reminded the player, wee wean that he was, the protocol required at the throw in. Sure as hell if Celtic did that there would be a stoppage and some reason foung to cancel the goal. Typical Lanarkshire official, up to his knees as usual. They are all at it.
Robinson should have told his polayers to repay the goal, but another load of gibberish sluttering something about “he didn’t know what to do”. Away ya muppet, magager, you couln’t manage a ferty without pooing your pants, an other total muppet.
