Daizen Maeda was the star of the show in Celtic’s 5-0 Scottish Cup win over Raith Rovers, bagging a stunning hat-trick and claiming the Man of the Match award.

But while his goals were celebrated, the debut of a new chant for the Japanese forward has divided opinion among the Celtic fans.
Set to the tune of “Tequila” by The Champs, the chant is simple—fans replacing the iconic shout of “Tequila” with “Maeda.” The repetitive, catchy rhythm echoed around Parkhead as Maeda terrorised the Raith defence, but not everyone was sold on it.

Some supporters loved the chant’s simplicity. However, others found it underwhelming and uninspired.
Whether “Maeda!” becomes a Parkhead staple or fades away remains to be seen, but for now, it’s part of the Maeda mania sweeping through Celtic Park after his incredible goal-scoring form. That’s 21 this season and 50 since his move.
While he’ll be suspended for Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich, fans won’t have to wait long to belt out his new chant again when Celtic face Dundee United on Saturday.
He’ll also be on the plane to Germany next week, with Celtic looking to cause an upset against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. A result at home could give them something to go to Germany to play for.
