Celtic’s on-loan goalkeeper Conor Hazard has received praise from Dundee boss James McPake for his run in the side as of late.

The Celtic goalie is on a season long loan with the club and is looking the part in the Championship.

Hazard knows there’s absolutely no room at Celtic right now for him to make the break-though and he’s best served learning and gaining valuable experience with Dundee for now.

“He is a young goalkeeper but he has experience of this league and also international experience.” McPake told the Courier.

“Celtic have three very good goalies at the club in Fraser Forster, Scott Bain and Craig Gordon.

“But Conor has just played in a big derby which was live on BT. That’s something he will have to continue to do if he wants to be Celtic’s number one.”

Hazard is 21, a young goalie but a lad who is looking to get first team football on a regular basis. He would have to go above and beyond to convince Neil Lennon he was worth a shot next summer.

However, there are variables in play – the only guaranteed goalkeeper at Celtic next season is Scott Bain who recently signed a new four-year deal. Forster is on loan and his future is uncertain while Craig Gordon looks to be leaving on a free. In the summer, by default Bain could be number one and Hazard number two if Celtic don’t sort out their number one’s future before then.
