Celtic have been nothing short of clinical in their first-half performance against Ross County this afternoon at Celtic Park, storming into a commanding 5-0 lead at the break.
From the first whistle, it was clear that Brendan Rodgers’ side were on a mission, and they wasted no time in putting the Staggies to the sword with a flurry of goals that left the visitors struggling to keep up.
The breakthrough came early, in the 10th minute, when Liam Scales rose highest to meet a Luke McCowan corner.
His header from the six-yard box sailed past Ross County goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw to give Celtic the lead.
The goal set the tone for what was to come.
As the half progressed, Celtic’s fluid attacking play continued to overwhelm their opponents.
Just minutes later, McCowan turned from provider to scorer, firing a stunning left-footed shot from the edge of the box in the 27th minute.
His strike, assisted by a perfectly timed pass from Liam Scales, nestled into the top corner, doubling Celtic’s advantage.
The floodgates opened further in the 35th minute when Paulo Bernardo netted.
The midfielder’s clinical finish from close range put Celtic 3-0 up.
Almost immediately after, Callum McGregor got in on the act, scoring a brilliant left-footed strike from outside the box that found the bottom right corner in the 36th minute.
The captain’s goal sent a clear message, this was going to be Celtic’s day.
Then, in the 40th minute, Adam Idah sealed the scoring spree with a powerful right-footed shot from outside the box. Assisted once again by McCowan, Idah’s strike flew into the top right corner, making it 5-0 and leaving Ross County with little hope of a comeback.
Celtic have been utterly dominant, showcasing their attacking prowess and defensive solidity.
As the Bhoys head into the second half with a comfortable lead, supporters will be eager to see if they can maintain this level of performance and push for even more goals in the second half.
