CELTIC are on the cusp of receiving a remarkable and record breaking sell on clause fee for former defender Virgil van Dijk.

The Dutchman has been at odds with Southampton all summer about a move away from St Mary’s with the club digging their heels in as English top flight clubs fought over him.

It now appears the player is going to get his move to Anfield for a whopping 82million – breaking all sorts of records in the process and not to mention landing Celtic with a fee of over £10million.

This would be another fantastic boost for the Celtic coffers after Champions League qualification that’s set to net the club over £30million this season.

If the deal does go through for Van Dijk like sources down south, say then Celtic’s transfer policy will be vindicated in a big way.

In other news, Celtic are still the market for another defender and striker before the deadline.

  1. Free money so spend it on that Iranian from Rubin kazan probably won’t buy another striker now Roberts is here but we sorely need one just in case of injuries

  2. Celts need to spend to finish at least 2nd in section Home win against PSG is definetly do able. Scotty will cover Neymar Release the funds Peter as the Bhoys in green need to be in the last 16, spend money to get even more Albhoy1

  3. I agree with Alex Boyd, Celtic need to invest in another striker and strengthen the the rear with a good defender. we need to get at least 2nd place and into the final 16!

  4. I think many on here are suffering from delusions of grandeur. This current Celtic team will be whipping boys again in Europe. We have a defence that has more holes than a Tetley teabag. Just look at he last match against Astana. The defending was woeful. I’ve seen kids in the park defend better than that. This club seriously has to invest in quality players to compete at this level or be resigned to being the best in Scotland with odd dip into Champions League. The fact that they didn’t go out and buy Patrick Roberts is an indication that they are just doing a patch up job. I hope I am completely wrong but I don’t think so. Time to invest the money gained from Champions League football. Don’t have to spend it all, but a fair percentage is definitely needed to compete at this level. Two central defenders, one creative midfielder and an out and out striker who is tall and good in the air.

  5. 2 things spring to mind firstly we had tp loan Foster from Newcastle for 3 years before we could buy him lets be patient and happy Paddys come home its one foot in the door secondly we need a stronger defence so centre half and even a challenging keeper would be good also a back up fit striker like Gauld from Sporting hes young been used to warming the bench as back up to Leigh would be ideal with a reported 10 million on way for sale of van dyke we could buy develop and sell him on its a win win situation CMON BHOYS GET THE DEALS DONE HH
