Liverpool fans have put their own spin on a Celtic favourite, adapting a song cherished by the Hoops faithful during Ange Postecoglou’s tenure. The chant, originally sung to celebrate Celtic’s dominance under Ange, has been modified for Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot, as fans swapped out “Ange” for “Arne” in the lyrics.
Set to Top of the World by The Carpenters, the chant goes:
We’re on top of the league looking down at the Rangers,
And the only explanation we can find,
Is the form we have found since Ange has been around,
That has put us at the top of the league.
Though it gained widespread popularity on the terraces under Ange, this song had actually been around for years in Celtic circles. Long before the manager’s arrival, singer Patricia Ferns regularly performed it for Celtic fans at local clubs and pubs, making it a beloved tune at fan events.

Ange’s Celtic Chant was Well Deserved
The chant exploded in popularity as Celtic surged to success under Postecoglou, whose arrival marked a major turning point. Ange led the Bhoys to a double in his first season and a treble in his second, making the song a fitting tribute to a manager who lifted the club from a low point.
Liverpool’s attempt at recreating the song shows their admiration, but to Celtic fans, hearing it with another name feels a bit strange. As always, though, Celtic supporters can rest easy, knowing that while others might borrow it, no one does it quite like we do.
The green boys, sorry, bhoys would never steal another team’s song of course.
ynwa.
Says the Celtic fans who nicked their anthem, you’ll never walk alone 🤣
Better than stealing another clubs history and claiming it as your own.
