Former Celtic striker Patryk Klimala, made his debut for new side New York Red Bulls this weekend, coming off the bench in a 1-0 loss against Philadelphia Union.

The Polish striker, joined the MLS side last month for a fee in the region of £3.6 million after spending just over a year in Scotland with the Hoops.

With the MLS starting at the end of last month, Klimala was forced to wait before making his first appearance for his new side.

Early on Sunday morning, he did just that, coming off the bench after the break as the Red Bulls went in search of a route back into the game.

Despite all their efforts, including bringing on another former Celt in Cameron Harper, the Red Bulls were defeated going down to 10-men late on, in the process.

As mentioned, it is early days in both the MLS season and Klimala’s career in the US. So, there will likely be plenty more to come in the way of appearances.

It will be interesting to see if he can live up to the big price tag that his new side paid out.
