Kris Ajer went down to watch Ryan Christie and Bournemouth secure their Premier League promotion on Tuesday night. The big defender in the stands to watch his old Celtic teammate get to the promise land.

Both players left in the summer and while Kris went straight into the Premier League, Ryan opted against a move to Burnley in order to help Bournemouth gain promotion. It’s a gamble that’s paid off for Ryan tonight as they secured their Premier League position for next season.

The pair became really good friends at Celtic and came into the first team through a similar process. Both went out on loan to SPFL clubs then came back and bided their time to get an opening for the first team.

Ajer left early in the summer for Celtic, making it clear to Ange Postecoglou his mind was elsewhere. Ange accepted Kris wasn’t going to be part of his plans and left him out of any pre season fixtures so a deal could be done with Brentford.

Celtic got a great fee for the Norwegian considering he was in the final 12 months of his Celtic contract. He’s had a top season down south with Brentford and if he continues to play well Celtic might see more of a return on their investment.

Ryan had even less time left on his contract and the Hoops managed a £2.5m fee plus add ons.

We wish Ryan all the best in the English Premier League and now the pair will be coming up against each other next season.

  1. Couldn’t give a flying f##k what Ryan Christie or Chris Ajer are doing. They are no longer at Celtic FC and are of no concern to me.
