LUCA CONNELL started today for Queens Park less than 48 hours after his loan deal with the Glasgow club was announced.

Not only did the Irishman start, but he also got an assist, floating the ball into the box from a setpiece with Lee Kilday rising to meet it.

Luca has been nowhere near the Celtic first team since coming into the club from Bolton. He came in with a good reputation but he’s seen no game time. His Queens park debut today was his first competitive match since leaving England.

Neil Lennon, for whatever reason, found it very difficult to bring in the younger players to see how they could adapt. Many young Celtic players have left the club over the past two years because there’s been no clear pathway to the starting XI.

It’s something that’ll have to change under a new Celtic boss. We need to get Lennoxtown working for us again.

Well done to Luca on his debut and let’s hope this is just the start of his career in Glasgow.
