Midfielder Luca Connell came in from Bolton under Neil Lennon with high hopes he could built into a first team player over time.

Luca spent the latter part of his first season at Celtic out on loan to Queens Park and then rejoined them last season as they gained another promotion.

Connell made 32 appearances for the lower league side last season, scoring seven and creating six goals.

The 21-year-old is due to return to Lennoxtown on the June 27 with the rest of the squad but his future is uncertain.

Last summer feels like a long time ago when it comes to the makeup of the Celtic squad. There were many fans who believe Luca could become a squad player under Ange given our lack of depth and the good things we all heard about the midfielder.

It turned out not to be the case and as Celtic look to kick on to another level, will there be room for a guy like Luca in the fold. Queens Park obviously rate the Irish under 21 international highly. Will the ambitious Glasgow club look to make a permanent deal?

We have the feeling there will be more outgoings than incomings this summer as Ange looks to fine tune his squad. Luca could be a casualty of that process, but you never know.
