Celtic midfielder Luke McCowan has made an impressive start to life at Parkhead following his late transfer from Premiership rivals Dundee.

The 27-year-old Greenock native spent three successful years with Dundee, amassing 125 appearances before making the switch to Glasgow just hours before the summer transfer window slammed shut. Since joining Celtic, McCowan has flourished, contributing four goals and three assists in 18 league appearances so far.
Tonight’s clash between Celtic and Dundee at Dens Park marks McCowan’s first return to his former club since his departure earlier this season.
Reflecting on his return to familiar territory, McCowan shared his thoughts with Sky Sports: “Yeah, I think so. Even just warming up on the other side of the pitch will be something that I’ll probably notice is different. But it’ll be nice to go back to somewhere I was for three-and-a-half or four years. This time, though, I want to beat them and take points off them rather than being nice. My full focus is on the game and enjoying it.”
McCowan also highlighted how much he has enjoyed his time at Celtic so far, praising the influence of senior players like Callum McGregor and James Forrest: “You probably don’t realise it at first. You just want to keep working hard and pushing each other every day to maintain performance levels in every game. I just need to keep looking at how Cal [McGregor] handles it, and James [Forrest]. I always mention their names because I’m quite close to them here, and they’ve been amazing for me. We just need to keep plodding along and take each game as it comes.”
The midfielder made an impact in Celtic’s 4-1 win over Ross County at the weekend, scoring in added time after coming off the bench. As McCowan prepares for his Dens Park return, he will be eager to maintain his momentum and help Celtic continue their strong league campaign.
Playing before Rangers again, who host Aberdeen on Wednesday, Celtic will have the chance to extend their lead at the top of the table to 18 points.
